In 1975, Three Rivers Bank of Montana’s founder, Jack King, created the Highlander Track Club. The purpose of the club was to introduce local youth to track and field and to encourage physical activity. The participants are coached by local high school track and field athletes. For three weeks, they practice track and field events and then participate in two track meets. The Highlander Track Club is sanctioned by the U.S. Track and Field Association.

In 2006, Three Rivers Bank of Montana, added the Highlander Cross Country Club to introduce local youth to cross country running. The participants in this club are also coached by local high school athletes and participate in two races.

Three Rivers Bank of Montana sponsors the clubs and there is no charge to participate. Over the years, thousands of youth have participated in the Highlander Track and Cross Country Clubs. Many participants continue their involvement with track and cross country into their high school and college years. These programs have inspired other communities to implement similar programs in their areas.
